Frequently Asked Questions

What services do you provide?

We currently specialize in handgun repair, upgrades, and customization, including trigger work, sight installation, safety inspections, and detailed cleaning. As we expand our tooling and certifications, additional services for rifles and shotguns will be added.

Do you need an FFL to work on my firearm?

Yes. Federal law requires that any gunsmith engaged in business hold a Federal Firearms License (FFL). Our shop is fully licensed, and you can rest assured your firearm is handled legally and securely.

How long does a typical job take?

Turnaround time depends on the service. Simple sight installations or cleanings may be completed in less than a week, while more detailed custom work may take several weeks. We’ll always provide an estimated timeline before beginning.

How do I drop off or pick up my firearm?

We are primarily setup as a service center and only allow drop-off and pick-up by appointment. Please use the contact us link to start the process of getting your firearm in for service. If you schedule a service then remember that you will need proper identification when you drop off the firearm. Your ID will be scanned into our system and you must be the same person to pick up the firearm. If someone different must pickup the firearm, they will be required to fill out a 4473 with a background check before they can leave with it (Not our rules but required by the ATF). So make sure that you plan to be the same person to pickup.

Please do not bring your firearm to our location without an appointment.

What safety rules do I need to follow when bringing in my firearm?

For everyone’s safety, all firearms must be completely unloaded before being brought into the shop. Please remove any ammunition from the case and keep ammo stored separately. Firearms should be transported in a secure case or bag with the action open if possible. Never enter the shop with a firearm in hand — always keep it cased until inspected by staff. If you’re unsure how to unload your firearm safely, call ahead and we will guide you through the process.

Can you order parts for me?

Yes. We work with reputable distributors to source high-quality parts and can often find exactly what you need. Customers are also welcome to bring their own parts for installation.

Do you do custom modifications?

We offer select customizations such as trigger jobs, sight upgrades, and refinishing options. More advanced machining and fabrication services will be available as our shop grows.

What does a detailed cleaning include?

A deep cleaning goes beyond a standard field strip. We disassemble the firearm, ultrasonically clean components, inspect for wear, and reassemble with proper lubrication to ensure peak performance.

How much do your services cost?

Pricing varies by service and firearm type. A standard price list is available on our website, and custom quotes are provided for more complex projects.

Do you guarantee your work?

Yes. We stand behind every job we do. If you ever experience an issue with a service we provided, bring your firearm back, and we’ll make it right.

Are you accepting new customers?

Absolutely. Whether you’re a first-time gun owner who needs a safety inspection or an experienced shooter looking for performance upgrades, we welcome all customers.

Do you work on antique or collectible firearms?

We evaluate antique and collectible firearms on a case-by-case basis. Some can be safely serviced, while others are best preserved as display pieces. We will advise you on the safest option for your firearm.

Do you offer firearm appraisals?

We can provide general condition and function checks but do not currently offer certified appraisals for insurance or resale purposes. We will be adding this service soon.

Can you install aftermarket parts or accessories I provide?

Yes. Customers may bring in approved aftermarket parts, provided they are compatible and safe. We reserve the right to decline installation of any parts that compromise firearm safety.

Do you refinish or Cerakote firearms?

At this time, refinishing is limited. We are building toward offering full refinishing and Cerakote options in the future.

How do I know my firearm is safe to shoot?

Every firearm that passes through our shop is inspected for wear, cracks, and other safety issues. If we find anything unsafe, we will notify you immediately and provide recommendations. Any significant modifications we make to your firearm will be tested by us firing the firearm for safety and functionality.

Do you provide warranty work for manufacturers?

We are not an authorized service center for specific manufacturers. However, we can perform many out-of-warranty repairs. For in-warranty issues, we may recommend contacting the manufacturer directly.

Can you help me with firearm customization for competition or concealed carry?

Yes. We can advise on trigger tuning, sight upgrades, and ergonomic modifications tailored to your needs while keeping safety and reliability as top priorities.

Do you offer training or instruction?

We do not currently provide shooting instruction. However, we may be able to recommend certified instructors and local ranges for training opportunities.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, major credit/debit cards, and (if you’d like) you could specify gun-friendly processors you’re set up with. Payment is due at the time of service or pickup.

Why do you charge tax for gunsmithing services?

Tennessee law requires sales tax to be collected on most services related to firearms, including gunsmithing. This is not a shop policy but a state requirement. All service charges, as well as parts and materials, are subject to Tennessee’s sales tax rate. By collecting and remitting this tax properly, we stay compliant with state regulations and protect both our customers and our business.

Can I ship my firearm to you for service?

Yes. We accept firearms shipped in for service in compliance with federal regulations. Customers must ship directly to our FFL address, and the firearm must be returned directly to the customer once work is complete. Please contact us before shipping to confirm details and receive instructions. All firearms must be unloaded and securely packaged. Please do not send in any firearms without an authorization.

What happens if I don’t pick up my firearm after the work is complete?

Once your firearm service is complete, you will be notified that it is ready for pickup. Customers have 30 days from the notification date to pick up their firearm. After 30 days, the firearm will be considered abandoned. In accordance with federal and state law, abandoned firearms may be disposed of at the shop’s discretion. To avoid this, please pick up your firearm promptly or contact us if you need to make special arrangements.

I have a broken firearm that is beyond repair. What should I do with it?

If your firearm is no longer safe or practical to repair, we can guide you on proper disposal options. In many cases, firearms can be legally destroyed, parted out, or surrendered depending on your preference and state/federal regulations. Please do not throw a firearm in the trash or attempt unsafe disposal methods. Contact us to discuss the condition of your firearm, and we’ll help you determine the safest and most compliant next step.

Do you perform safety inspections?

Yes. We offer detailed safety inspections to check for worn parts, cracks, or other issues that could affect reliability. It’s a good idea to have your firearm inspected regularly, especially if it’s older or heavily used.

Do you work on NFA items (suppressors, short-barreled rifles, etc.)?

At this time, we do not service NFA (Class III) firearms. For those items, we recommend working with a licensed Class III dealer. It is not that we do not want to help, but the ATF requires a Special Occupational Tax (SOT) to legally engage in the business of dealing in or servicing NFA firearms. Our shop has not decided to pay the yearly tax for the current volume requests. This may change in the future if the volume of requests change.

Can you build a custom firearm for me?

We do not currently offer full custom builds from scratch. However, we can help with upgrades, modifications, and part installations to tailor a firearm to your needs. We can also assemble firearms from parts that you provide us.

Do you provide written estimates?

Yes. Before beginning any work, we can provide a written estimate of the cost. If unexpected issues arise, we will contact you before performing additional work.

Can you help with firearm storage?

We do not currently offer long-term firearm storage. Firearms left beyond the 30-day pickup period are subject to our abandonment policy.

Do you test-fire firearms after service?

When appropriate, firearms are function-tested to ensure safety and reliability. In some cases, we may perform live-fire testing at a local range.

Do you offer emergency or rush services?

Rush jobs may be available for an additional fee, depending on workload and part availability. Contact us directly if you need faster turnaround.

Do you work on black powder or muzzleloaders?

Currently, we focus on modern firearms. Black powder and muzzleloader service may be offered in the future as our shop expands.

Do you sell firearms?

We are not a traditional retail gun store. Our main focus is on gunsmithing, repair, and customization services. While we don’t keep a regular sales inventory, we may occasionally offer firearms for sale that we have purchased from customers, repaired, or restored. These will be clearly listed when available. If you’re looking for something specific, we can also recommend reputable local dealers and assist with upgrades or customizations after your purchase.

Do you sell firearms on consignment?

At this time, we do not offer consignment sales. Our focus is on providing quality gunsmithing and repair services. However, in some cases we may purchase firearms directly from customers for restoration and resale. For customers interested in consignment, we are happy to recommend trusted local dealers who specialize in firearm sales.
